Student:
Boat training is intended to instruct FYC members in club procedures regarding a specific boat and to serve as a refresher course for those already having a basic knowledge of sailing and boating practices. It is not a “learn-to-sail” type-training program. Items “A” through “H” should be reviewed with the student until he/she feels ready to have a Checkout. The Checkout will consist of item “H” and is intended to ensure this boat is used according to FYC standards.
Instructor:
Items A through G are for initial training which may take place over more than one session. Cover each point thoroughly and put your initials in the left hand column with the numerical points covered, do not initial if you feel student needs additional practice time and/or instruction. Training is not complete until all numbers are accounted for in Instructor column. Item H may be reviewed with student, but do not initial left side. Complete attached Instruction Record.
Item H is for the final checkout and qualification. Review each item and initial left hand side if you feel student understands the concept and can adequately demonstrate it. Complete attached Qualification Record.
