My Checklist

1. Review points-of-sail and proper commands to crew

2. Sail while holding the main sheet at all times

3. Maintaining Proper Heel: hiking out, depowering sails (main & jib) and feathering up in wind gusts

4. Reefing procedures

-- Topping lift usage

-- Cunningham reef point

-- Primary reef point

5. Review the purpose of the Safety Position (all sheets eased) & Heaving To

6. Importance of easing the main when heading off the wind to avoid an obstruction.

7. Coming along side another sailboat (avoid spreader entanglement while rocking)

8. Importance of being aware of long overhanging boom when sailing in finger, and danger of fouling mainsheet on overhanging outboards and dinghies

9. Demonstrate use of the working jib and genoa (use only under 10 knots wind speed), note different
fairlead positions.

10. Use of the traveler system, with emphasis on depowering the main sail.
