2. Prepare boat, leave dock and sail out into basin channel. Student must explain the dangers of cross traffic in the channel and of other boats backing out of docks. Discuss how procedure would be done with the wind from different directions (see Item E2). When leaving dock with a head wind, do not tack back and forth to leave finder – use paddle.
